The Puck · 3D

Try the Puck in 3D

This is the Puck built from its own design files, so what you see is what you get. Turn it any way you like, open the lid, turn the ring to close the talons on a coin, fold the leg, and try a different coin from the tray.

Shipping in the United States is included. Shipping and returns.

Drag to turn it: sideways spins it, up and down tips it, and both go all the way round. Right-drag (or two fingers) slides it. Scroll or pinch to zoom. Recenter puts it back.

Try another coin

Tap a coin, or drag it onto the Puck. The coins are drawn at their true sizes relative to each other.

About this model

This model is built from the same design files I print the Puck from, so it looks and moves like the real one. Open the lid, then turn the ring: the three talons close on the coin's rim, center it and lift it slightly off the window, so neither face touches anything. Press "Watch the lift" for a close-up, with the ring made see-through.

Pick a coin from the tray to see how one Puck holds anything from a dime to a crown. Coins that are not perfectly round, like the three ancient ones, can sit slightly off center, just as they do in a real Puck.

Coin photographs, all in the public domain: the Smithsonian's National Numismatic Collection (the American coins), the Bibliothèque nationale de France (the British and ancient coins), and Welkinridge (the 1953 Coronation crown). The sizes of the ancient coins are typical for their type, not measurements of these pieces.
